How to grow hair long and healthy:

Although there is no way to make your hair “grow faster” you can take the steps to prevent breakage.

Whether you are trying to grow your hair out from a bad haircut or just dying it too much so its fried as shet, these things will definitely help.

1.)- STOP dying your hair! This causes SO much breakage and damage. You should ONLY be dying your hair at home if you are going DARKER! And if you are going darker you should only use a semi-permanent hair color (it does not completely open the cuticle and penetrate color like a permanent hair color which lifts and then deposits, semi’s only deposit which is really all you need when you are going darker!) they are less damaging and have the exact same effect. Permanent hair colors fade anyways, semi-permanents do also but they do permanently change the color of your hair.

If your hair is lighter: Honestly you really should go to a salon to get it done lighter, but if you don’t have the money for the salon and you REALLY want to keep your lighter hair color, only touch up your roots when needed!

My best advice though is to dye your hair your natural color until it all grows out to your desired length and then you can begin to play with colors again, it’s really worth it in the end and its less maintenance.

2.) - GET REGULAR TRIMS! Every 6-8 weeks I trim my own hair after I color it. (I only take off about 1/4 of an inch if that, just a slight dusting) It is honestly so important to keep the split ends off of your hair!

The longer amount of time your ends are split, the farther up the shaft the split travels causing your hair to break off and become shorter, straggly and weak. Plus your hair will just look and feel so much better when you don’t have split ends.

**PRODUCTS THAT CLAIM TO MEND SPLIT ENDS ARE B.S.!!!!  There is NO way to get rid of a split end other than to cut it off!!!

3.) AVOIDING HEAT! HEAT IS SO BAD FOR YOUR HAIR I CRY WHEN PEOPLE STRAIGHTEN THEIR HAIR AND CURL IT AND BLOW DRY IT ALL THE TIME!!! It literally frys your hair, drying it out and it splits your ends!

Some people can’t go without using heat, if you are one of them please ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a HEAT PROTECTANT! A way to test if your heat protectant is good is to spray it on the back of your hand, use your blow dryer and if after about 45 seconds the back of your hand is cool, then you have a good one! if your hand feels like its about to melt off, don’t use that in your hair!

Using the blow dryer on the cool setting is another way to help with avoiding heat.

4.) AVOID BRUSHING YOUR HAIR - I only brush my hair before I get in the shower and sometimes after my hair is dry. Brushing your hair causes a lot of damage, especially when you are not brushing it the right way or at the right times.

* never brush your hair when it is wet: your hair is more malleable when its wet causing it to stretch and break more easily

* never brush your hair from the top to the bottom: your knots will just get bigger as they go down and it will break a ton of hair off! ALWAYS start from the bottom up!!!

* use a WIDE TOOTH comb!

5.) SLEEP WITH YOUR HAIR UP! it helps reduce tangles and knots by a ton, making brushing easier and less damage!

6.) EAT HEALTHY / DRINK WATER: do it trust me omg

7.) KNOWING WHAT YOUR HAIR NEEDS!

avoid sulfate shampoos/conditioners because they strip your hair of your essential oils

THE LESS YOU SHAMPOO YOUR HAIR, THE BETTER!!!

(a good shampoo/conditioner brand that is sulfate/paraben / petrochemical free is BURTS BEES and if you have the money totally go for it is MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL)

IF YOUR HAIR IS OVER PROCESSED FROM HEAT: you need MOISTURE

IF YOUR HAIR IS OVER PROCESSED FROM COLORING: you need PROTEIN

do not over do it on either of them though!

LEAVE IN CONDITIONERS FOR WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE SHOWER ARE SO IMPORTANT!!! concentrate them on your ends! it helps so you dont need to brush your hair after your shower you can just finger comb!

8.) HAIR MASKS ONCE A WEEK!

My absolute favorite one is macadamia natural oil deep repair mask but it is really expensive but worth it but if you dont wanna drop 50 bucks for a hair mask, I like the l’oreal ever strong hair mask.

You can also make your own with eggs and mayonaise! (I will be making hair mask DIY’s soon yayaya)

ok and that is all i can think of that i do for my hair for right now ya

just be very gentile and patient with your hair! on average hair grows from 1/4-1/2-3/4 an inch a month!!
